POSITION TITLE: MECHANIC I I DEPARTMENT: SYSTEMS MAINTENANCE
GENERAL DESCRIPTION and SUMMARY OF DUTIES:Under general supervision, performs skilled duties in the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment and fixtures. Work involves performing preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical machinery at wastewater lift stations; performing daily and scheduled monthly inspections of wastewater lift stations, associated force mains, vent valves, and piping; operating light to medium vehicles daily; assisting Electricians with required duties as necessary; making entries and maintaining daily lift station activity logs as well as correctly completing preventive and corrective maintenance documentation; and performing generally routine or diversified duties as instructed by supervision requiring sound, productive judgment in the broader aspects of established practices and procedures.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including motor vehicles, numerous pumps, tractors, lawn mowers, generators, water pumps, etc., and electrician's and mechanic's hand tools. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 5 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are those of Medium to Heavy Work.SKILLS or QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Requires
a High School Diploma, or GED equivalent, supplemented by one to two years
experience in mechanical maintenance work; or any equivalent combination of
training and experience, which provides the required skills, knowledge and
abilities. Must have a valid
RATE PER HOUR: $16.07 SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION
