Grease Trap Installation Procedures

1. Complete a grease trap application form.

2. Install the correctly sized interceptor (trap).

3. Have the trap inspected by District personnel. Call our offices at 843-764-3072 during office hours Monday through Friday 7:30am- 4 pm.

4. Annual inspections will be performed by District personnel.

Connection Charges- In order to connect to the sewer system, a connection permit and a one time non-refundable initial charge of $30.00 must be paid. The connection permit fee is $1,250 per REU (residential equivalent unit). A REU shall mean the equal of one single family dwelling unit and is defined as the injection of approximately 250 gallons or less of wastewater into the sewer system on a daily basis. Our Engineering Department will calculate the number of REUs using the information you provide on your application form.

2. After your connection permit fee has been calculated, pay this fee at our offices located at 7225 Stall Road, North Charleston. Cash, Check, Visa, Mastercard, and Discover are accepted.

3. Locate the lateral service for your property, if you need assistance locating the lateral please call our offices at 843-764-3072 during office hours Monday through Friday 7:30am- 4 pm to schedule.

4. The plumber/owner then connects their sewer line to the District’s trunk line within the public right of way. The connection must be made in accordance to the District’s specifications.

5. Prior to covering your sewer line it is mandatory to have the line inspected by District personnel. Call our offices at 843-764-3072 during office hours Monday through Friday 7:30am- 4 pm to schedule an inspection.
